It is His work. I am like a little pencil in God's hand. That is all.
He does the thinking. He does the writing. The pencil has nothing to do with it.
The pencil has only to be allowed to be used.

If Colombia Was Your Home...

More Information about Colombia

With its 44,205,293 people Colombia is the 28th largest country in the world by population. It is the 26th largest country by area with 1,138,914 square kilometers. Colombia was one of the three countries that emerged from the collapse of Gran Colombia in 1830 (the others are Ecuador and Venezuela). A four-decade long conflict between government forces and anti-government insurgent groups, principally the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) heavily funded by the drug trade, escalated during the 1990s. The insurgents lack the military or popular support necessary to overthrow the government and violence has been decreasing since about 2002, but insurgents continue attacks against civilians and large areas of the countryside are under guerrilla influence or are contested by security forces. More than 31,000 former paramilitaries had demobilized by the end of 2006 and the United Self Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) as a formal organization had ceased to function. In the wake of the paramilitary demobilization, emerging criminal groups arose, whose members include some former paramilitaries. The Colombian Government has stepped up efforts to reassert government control throughout the country, and now has a presence in every one of its administrative departments. However, neighboring countries worry about the violence spilling over their borders.

Isa and Santi

Happy Birthday to two more 2nd Graders!
I'm a little late in posting this...these two had February birthdays.

Isa

She didn't want to wear the birthday hat. I'm not sure if it was for fear of looking silly or messing up her hair or not wanting to be the center of attention. But, she was a good sport for the picture!

Isabella is the oldest child in her family, with one younger sister who is in Pre-K at ECA. She has a vibrant smile and contagious laugh. I have seen her grow in so many ways this year, academically and relationally and I see leadership qualities in her. My prayer for her is that she will use her leadership qualities to influence her classmates in a positive way, always seeking to honor and glorify God by loving others as He does.

Santi

Santiago also has a younger sister in Pre-K at ECA. His father is a pastor and his mother also serves in full-time ministry. Santi loves to play Wii and especially loves Mario games. Santi also loves to draw, and often chooses to draw Mario. Santi is very creative and silly. He often makes me smile or laugh with just a simple silly expression! Santi is very mature emotionally and spiritually, and my prayer for him is that he will continue to have the guidance and support he needs as he keeps growing in these ways.
